skills to perform quantitative analysis of financial data to determine the

Workshop Sessions
Session 1 – Virtual – Tuesday April 11, 2023,
10:00am – 1:30pm
Session will include:
Examining and Spreading Financial Statements – Learn the types of financial information produced by a Borrower including a tax return or a financial statement, and the primary parts including Assets, Liabilities, Income Statement and Cashflow. Discuss the reasons for and the techniques of financial spreading.
Loan Documentation – Review the way a loan is structured and documented including preparation of a Term Sheet, a Commitment Letter and Loan Agreement.
Underwriting a Credit- Write an organized credit analysis that identifies the Borrower, Loan Purpose, Sources of Repayment and Risks.

Session 2 – Virtual – Tuesday April 25, 2023,
10:00am – 1:30pm
Session will include:
Financial Ratios and Trend Analysis – Discuss key ratios are used to evaluate a Borrower including profitability, leverage, and liquidity ratios and understand the purpose and importance of identifying trends
Cashflow Analysis & Debt Service – Learn how to read and build a Cashflow Statement and calculating a Borrower’s debt service coverage ratio “DSCR”.
Loan Products – Discuss the types of loan products offered by Banks and how they are used by Borrowers. They would include commercial mortgages, terms loans, and lines of credit, among others.
Portfolio Management – Discuss the importance of managing and monitoring a Borrower after the loan has closed and how this is performed, including collection of updated financial information, covenant monitoring, annual reviews and risk rating evaluation.

Session 3 – In person –
Tuesday, May 2, 2023, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Session will include:
Collateral and Guarantors: Understand why the Bank requires Collateral and Personal Guarantees for a loan and learn to evaluate the strengths of each.
Real Estate Lending – Review the types of commercial real estate Borrowers including residential/multi-family, commercial office, mixed-use, and owner occupied among others, as well as calculating and evaluating net operating income “NOI” and loan to value “LTV”.
Commercial & Industrial Lending – Discuss lending to small businesses or larger more established middle market companies and how these are analyzed and including consideration of management experience and the industry in which it operates.
